Trowell C of E School

Welcome to Trowell C of E Primary School, Nottinghamshire

E-Safety

On the parent section of our website we have added a link to some useful websites which support you as parents to ensure your children are using the internet safetly.

Work Viewing

Parents are invited to come into school on Tuesday 24 April to look through work alongside their children. The school hall will be available from 9.00 – 9.45am. and then 2.45-3.30pm. There is no need to book just let your child know your intention to come along and they will have their tray ready to bring to the hall. This is an opportunity to look at the work your children have been doing, celebrate their progress and have time together to discuss what they have done.

Sporting Activities

Mile Run

It’s great to report that our mile run for Sports Relief raised £937. Well done to all our children and thank you once more for the generous support of parents and families.

Rowing

We have again won the local inter school rowing competition held at George Spencer Academy in February. Each Junior year group had 3 representatives and after a hectic afternoon of rowing on Concept 2 machines we came out as winners with the longest distance rowed across all events. Well done to all!

Writing Emersion Week

We are planning some exciting activities to inspire our pupils to write. Our writing emersion week is planned for the week beginning 27 February 2012. The pupils will be using their imaginations and investigating some strange happenings at Trowell School. We are sure it will be lots of fun and hopefully we will have many pieces of inspired writing to show at the end of the week.

Help for Heroes

The sale of tickets for our Christmas productions raised £292 which we have donated to the Help for Heroes Charity.

Thank you once again for your support.  I congratulate all the children and their teachers for putting on such wonderful shows; what talented children we have!

Christmas Celebrations

We have enjoyed a wealth of Christmas celebrations in school over the past few weeks.

Thank you for supporting us and celebrating with us. Congratulations to both Key Stages for their wonderful Christmas productions.

Parent Governor Election

In the ballot recently carried out to elect a new Parent Governor for our school, Mrs Donna Butler was the successful candidate . Mrs Butler will commence her governor duties in early January. May I thank both prospective candidates for putting themselves forward for this important role.

Children in Need Fundraising

Pupils in Mrs Asbury’s class organised some lovely activities to raise money for this year’s Children in Need Appeal. Well done to all those involved.

Fruit Trees

We have recently received ten young fruit trees from the Hungerhill Fruit Tree Project. These trees have been propogated from Nottinghamshire stock trees and reflect the rich heritage of apple trees in Nottinghamshire. We will be planting some of the trees on the school site but have six trees to give away. Please contact us if you wish to nurture this heritage stock in your own garden, there are trees of different sizes but most are grown on MM106 and MM25 rootstock, growing 12 -15Ft or 20 – 25FT tall.

Wild Flower Seed Planting at Pit Lane

On a damp and grey Monday morning pupils from Mrs Asbury’s class helped members of ‘The British Volunteers for Conservation’ sow wild flower seed at Pit Lane. We look forward to seeing the results next spring and summer.
