Trowell C of E School

Welcome to Trowell C of E Primary School, Nottinghamshire

Help for Heroes

The sale of tickets for our Christmas productions raised £292 which we have donated to the Help for Heroes Charity.

Thank you once again for your support.  I congratulate all the children and their teachers for putting on such wonderful shows; what talented children we have!

Christmas Celebrations

We have enjoyed a wealth of Christmas celebrations in school over the past few weeks.

Thank you for supporting us and celebrating with us. Congratulations to both Key Stages for their wonderful Christmas productions.

Parent Governor Election

In the ballot recently carried out to elect a new Parent Governor for our school, Mrs Donna Butler was the successful candidate . Mrs Butler will commence her governor duties in early January. May I thank both prospective candidates for putting themselves forward for this important role.

Children in Need Fundraising

Pupils in Mrs Asbury’s class organised some lovely activities to raise money for this year’s Children in Need Appeal. Well done to all those involved.

Fruit Trees

We have recently received ten young fruit trees from the Hungerhill Fruit Tree Project. These trees have been propogated from Nottinghamshire stock trees and reflect the rich heritage of apple trees in Nottinghamshire. We will be planting some of the trees on the school site but have six trees to give away. Please contact us if you wish to nurture this heritage stock in your own garden, there are trees of different sizes but most are grown on MM106 and MM25 rootstock, growing 12 -15Ft or 20 – 25FT tall.

Wild Flower Seed Planting at Pit Lane

On a damp and grey Monday morning pupils from Mrs Asbury’s class helped members of ‘The British Volunteers for Conservation’ sow wild flower seed at Pit Lane. We look forward to seeing the results next spring and summer.

Harvest Celebrations

Generous harvest gifts from parents and children this year have once again allowed us to distribute over 70 parcels to the elderly residents of Trowell. It is lovely to be able to continue this harvest tradition here at Trowell School. We know that the harvest parcels are very well received as each year we are sent cards and thank you letters from recipients. These small harvest gifts are an opportunity for our pupils to show respect and kindness towards the elderly people who live near them. We are very grateful that our families remain so generous.

Small Schools Football Cup Winners

For the second year running we have won the Small Schools Football Cup.

School Council Visit to Westminster

Our school council members visited Westminster Abbey on June 13, we also visited the the Festival site on the South Bank of the Thames so that children could see where the original ‘Festival of Britain’ was staged. This complimented our 60th celebrations of Trowell being the Festival Village back in 1951.

Book Week

The last week of this half term has been ‘Book Week’. We have had many lovely activities to celebrate the joys of reading. On Tuesday pupils dressed up as their favourite book character, they all looked fantastic.
